Call for Papers – Hacker Halted 2008, Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, USA



Introduction

The 10th Hacker Halted will be held in Myrtle Beach, South Carolina. This is the 1st time that Hacker Halted is being organised in the USA. Running concurrently with the highly established Techno Security 2008, this series of Hacker Halted promises to be THE international platform for IT Security Professionals.

Conference Topic Areas

We are looking for specific expertise to be shared with our delegates, both technical and non-technical, in the following fields:

- Policies and Compliance Awareness
- Attacks and Countermeasures
- Perimeter Defence
- Mobile and Wireless Security
- Government Security
- Forensic Investigation into Web Hacking
- Botnets
- Penetration Testing
- Insider Threats
- Cyber Terrorism

Suggestions and Reminders

1. Please note that selection depends very much on the abstract submitted.

2. All presentations should not be product or vendor driven

3. Please do a thorough check before submission, and ensure accuracy

4. Must have good understanding of market place


Evaluation Criteria

Applications are subjected to the following review:

1. Originality
Topics must provide a unique perspective, viewpoint or way of doing something.

2. Timeliness and Interest
Topics must contain up to date and relevant material.

3. Educational Value
A good presentation that meets the educational needs of the audience is enhances the credibility of the speaker, the speaker's employer and the conference. Sales pitches will NOT considered.

Notification

Accepted applications will be notified. Please be aware of the following.

1. Reference Materials are Required

Reference materials are required. Our audience appreciates receiving support documentation to enhance their educational experience and serve as a reference when they return to the office. (If you rely on live demonstrations, your reference materials will be an outline of the demonstration with key reference points.)

2. 100% Adherence to NO COMMERCIALISM Policy

3. No Substitutions

Substitution of speakers or panellists is not allowed except in the case of an emergency. In the event of an emergency where the original selected speaker is not available, a written request for substitution may be considered, but strictly at the sole discretion of the Organiser.

4. Travel and Accommodation

Speakers are responsible for their own hotel and travel arrangements.
