Ethical Hacking Set to Make Its Mark in Russia

Moscow – On March 14, 2011, an international launch of ethical hacking courses took place around the world. Tens of thousands of Russian security engineers now have access to secret chips and techniques of hackers at the EC-Council authorized courses of Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) Version 7 at the Center “Specialist”.

Upon the completion of this highly technical ethical hacking course, participants will receive the much-acclaimed EC-Council Certified Ethical Hacker certification. The CEH program was officially accepted by the US Department of Defense last year, as part of its DoD Directive 8570.01M Change 2.

Center “Specialist” and EC Council started a new chapter in Russia’s history of information security. At the press conference, Sergey Klevogin, a Certified EC-Council Instructor, demonstrated how information systems can be protected using techniques and methods based on offensive tactics of hackers.
“Being aware and understanding the various vulnerabilities, a security engineer can almost fully protect systems from being compromised,” Klevogin said. “By knowing the tools and methodologies that a perpetrator employs, one can competently defend the company’s security systems from intrusion. Now they have the opportunity to be the ‘real’ hackers at the other side of the fence. In line with the CEH philosophy, to catch a hacker, you have to think like one.

The representatives of Russia’s leading computer media, including Hacker, PC World, Hard & Soft, ComputerBild, Chip and PCWEEK were invited to participate in the presentation. The largest Russian TELECOM-operators and banks expressed particular interest in the Certified Ethical Hacker program.

“In the telecoms and banking sectors, there are thousands of security engineers that constantly need to improve their skills in the field of information security,” said Dmitry Gudzenko, the director of Computer Training Center “Specialist.” “Ethical hacking courses – it’s a new elite step in training professionals in the field of Information security. ‘Specialist’ is the market leader in computer training, and we are proud to become the first EC-Council Authorized Training Center (ATC) in Russia to provide the Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) program.”

“Russia has some of the most talented and ingenious hackers in the world. I believe the CEH program will enable them to apply their brilliant skills for a good cause rather than evil,” Gudzenko said.

EC-Council Training Partner, ITERA, Gains Strength In the Fight Against Cyber Crime

Madrid, February 2011, – Itera Process Consulting and IT Institute recently held a seminar in collaboration with EC-Council and IBM to discuss the growing threats of cyber attacks on businesses.

The event, sponsored by DIASA, welcomed the participation of Claire Kemp, executive representative of EC-Council in Spain, France, Italy, Portugal and Malta, who presented Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) Version 7, which was recently launched in 25 cities globally. IT Institute Spain (ITERA) was one of the EC-Council’s worldwide partners to host the exclusive global launch class in March.

During the seminar, Pedro Lara, Itera Consulting Manager and Certified EC-Council Instructor (CEI), explained key details of the new version of CEH and offered a brief demonstration of the ease with which hackers can compromise any conventional organization. Mr. Lara also demonstrated IBM’s AppScan tool to show the vulnerability of apparently secured applications. By detecting these vulnerabilities early, it reduces the risk of unauthorized data access or losses.

Jessica Valderrama, IBM Web security sales manager for Spain, Italy, Portugal and Israel, and Ariel Súcari, Itera Spain’s director of operations, focused their discussions on the necessity of standardizing defense mechanisms with the use of actualized and functional tools to correct application vulnerabilities – as an important addition to the work of ethical hackers.

“Hack the Hackers Night” in Macedonia

Phase 1: Organizing the event

01 March 2011, Semos Education started preparations for joining the global campaign for promotion of CEH v.7 training. We have decided to organize open day for all our interested clients.
