Lovely Professional University signs MOU with EC-Council, an internationally acclaimed Certification Organization

Jalandhar: Hacking has often used to refer to more nefarious criminal uses such as identity theft, credit card fraud or other actions categorized as computer crime so much so that Ethical Hacking has been a very negative sphere. After the Twin tower blast where computer hacking was majorly used to obtain the vital government information that Ethical Hacking’s role, it played in safeguarding was understood. Now the organizations and companies also employ ethical hackers so as to quantitatively assess and measure threats to information assets and discover where the organization is most vulnerable.

Lovely Professional University (LPU), a name strongly associated with quality and innovation, in order to educate the students on the benefits and importance of Ethical Hacking has recently signed a MOU with EC-Council. EC-Council is a professional body established in USA, which certifies individuals in various e-business and security skills. They are the owner and developer of the world famous Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH), Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI) and EC-Council Certified Security Specialist (ECSS) and many other fundamental programs in the realm of Wireless Networks and Security. Fox Business News: Biggest National Security Threat: Cyber Attack

America is under attack and the truth is, we aren’t doing enough to stop it. For all the fuss about national security in the last decade, we are forgetting the real threat isn’t only physical, but digital.

This isn’t some far-off possibility and it is happening now. Key American computer networks are attacked thousands of times a day by state-sponsored hackers , foreign spies, criminal organizations, lone hackers and “hacktivists.” Cybersecurity organizations are also planning for future cyber attacks from terrorist organizations like Al Qaeda.

And it’s only going to get worse.  As our national and global economies become ever more intertwined with the Internet, cyber attackers are developing greater capabilities to attack high-value targets. From anywhere in the world, cyber attackers have the ability to disrupt America’s most vital systems, from electric power grids to financial markets. With sufficient ingenuity, cyber attacks could cause billions of dollars in damage and put thousands of lives in jeopardy.

Will it take a ‘Cyber 9/11’ before we finally realize the importance of protecting our digital resources?

Congress is currently debating what form national cybersecurity reform should take. In May, the U.S. House voted 229 to 186 for its National Defense Authorization Act, which includes several cybersecurity measures–largely taken from the House Committee-approved Federal Information Security Amendments Act of 2010. The National Defense Authorization Act is currently pending before the Senate.

Fox Business News: Uncle Sam Wants You to Have an Online ID, by Jay Bavisi

As our daily interactions and transactions have become increasingly “wired,” we have yet to see any truly comprehensive attempts at securing online identities.

Our complex system of usernames and passwords is astoundingly outdated and increasingly prone to security breaches and theft. Yet, so far it has been mostly up to the individual to protect himself against various forms of identity fraud—with larger corporations taking relatively little responsibility.

But this could change in a big way. Right now the federal government is proposing a new system being referred to as the “Identity Ecosystem”—which was highlighted in the recently-released draft paper, “National Strategy for Trusted Identities in Cyberspace” [NSTIC].

The Identity Ecosystem would allow Americans to choose to obtain a single authenticated ID for online transactions. Like a passport, this single ID could travel with them online and be used to access everything from e-mail, to online health records and banking information. Furthermore, the Identity Ecosystem would only reveal the least amount of information necessary for each transaction.

“We are not going to let the cat out of the bag just yet,” Bavisi said, “but we plan to unveil several never before seen hacks on electronic devices that will shock consumers and businesses – and hopefully awaken more people to the many new dangers facing our interconnected world.”

Bavisi also announced that the EC-Council plans to keep Hacker Halted USA on the East Coast, “to better meet the needs of the U.S. IT Security community.” Now in its second year in Miami, Bavisi said he is intentionally targeting the Latin American community, which he sees as an important emerging market for IT security training and resources.

EC-Council Rocks Europe’s Largest Information Security Tradeshow

London, Apr 30, 2010 – In collaboration with some of EC-Council’s Authorized Training Partners in Europe, EC-Council stamped its mark at the recently concluded Infosecurity Europe Expo.

EC-Council worked with four of its training partners in Europe namely – Firebrand Training, Sysdream of France, TSTC of Netherlands, and Netacademia of Hungary, to jointly exhibit at the largest information security tradeshow in Europe, held in London from April 27-29. This is in line with EC-Council’s objective of creating greater awareness towards information security training and education.

Live hacking demonstrations were arranged at the EC-Council booth to demonstrate how EC-Council certification classes used labs and tools to educate information security professionals to secure their systems. Sean Hanna, an EC-Council Certified Instructor, impressed attendees at the show as he demonstrated some of the most current attack vectors employed by the underground community. Crowds gathered around the booth during the demonstration sessions, and due to overwhelming demand, Sean had to do encore sessions daily.

In addition to giveaways of a specially designed CEH branded T-Shirt, EC-Council generously gave away its electronic courseware, comprising of the world-renowned Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) program and the Network Security Administrator (ENSA) program, during the daily lucky draws.

“The participation at Infosecurity Europe has allowed our partners to reap handsome rewards,” said Sean Lim, Vice-President of EC-Council. He further adds, “The awareness generated from this show will no doubt translate to higher take up rate of our certification training programs offered by our partners. We will continue to identify and spearhead such joint initiatives with our partners.”

Robert Chapman, Director of Firebrand Training said, “This has been a very fulfilling exercise, and EC-Council has once again demonstrated its leadership by championing such demand generation initiatives which will definitely help in the efforts to evangelize EC-Council security training offerings.”

Olivier Franchi, Director of Sysdream adds, “We are very proud to select and partner with EC-Council at Europe’s largest infosecurity event – Infosecurity Europe 2010. Such collaborations are crucial in putting our step forward in the market of security training.”

EC Council Announces the first ever Official Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) Exam Review Course

Albuquerque March 24, 2010 –EC-Council’s live, online training deliver platform announces the launch of the first and only LIVEOfficial Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) Exam Review Course.

EC Council launched the iClass training platform in its current incarnation in January of 2009 and the program has been instrumental in bringing EC Council certification courses to IT Professionals all over the world either through our iClass partner relationships or by giving a remote student the ability to login and take an authorized course from wherever they reside.

“Since we launched the iClass platform, I have fielded literally thousands of questions regarding the CEH exam. The questions range from the tools that are covered, to the number of modules in the latest version. However, the main questions always revolve around the exam objectives.” Said Eric Lopez, Director of Online Learning for EC Council

This innovative course was designed to help students who have attended their training at an EC Council Authorized Training Center (ATC), or those who have invested the time in another form of EC Council authorized study such as web-based or video-based training and who have attempted and failed the exam.

The Course includes:

Mr. Lopez, went on to say, “This course will not suffice if the candidate hasn’t already attended a live, authorized course, or paired up their industry experience with a serious amount of EC Council authorized self study, and to assure that a candidate qualifies to take this course, they will be required to submit proof of their having attended authorized training or that they have attempted and failed the exam.

The course will retail at $349 dollars and with the voucher cost at $250 that is only $99 above the cost a candidate was going to pay to test anyway. Now we will provide them access to a ‘guided tour’ through the exam objectives; not to mentioned the test pass guarantee option!”
