EC–Council addresses the Need for Skilled Professionals in India, To Train 40,000 Personnel in Cyber Warfare by Early 2014

New Delhi, July 31, 2013: EC-Council, the world’s largest certification and training organization in the information security domain, discussed strategies to meet global competition at a Roundtable on cyber security held in New Delhi, today. EC-Council emphasized that to elucidate the information security industry’s successes, failures, and future out of the box solutions it is essential that the cyber security industry implement, the model of the pharmaceutical industry in their fight against diseases.

The in-depth discussion was held between Mr. Jay Bavisi, Global President, EC-Council and Mr. Akash Agarwal, Country Manager- India, EC-Council on the current status of the cyber security scenario, industry and its challenges. Jay Bavisi said, “While data points show that we are losing the fight, it is clear that the solution to the plague will happen when we will inject the vaccine. It is evident that the best way to solve the cyber plague is by introducing a cyber-vaccine programme that is needed to start at all levels of society through combative education plans.”

Recent study shows that, 5.39 million local malware threats were detected on computers in India. A sensitive issue, India is lagging behind in its fight in cyber warfare. Any attack will result into financial loss, no matter how sophisticated the attack is.

Speaking about the Indian cyber security awareness, Akash Agarwal, commented, “The country needs 5 lakh cyber security professionals by 2015. In line with this requirement, EC-Council through its direst presence and efforts in India has created a capacity of 20,000+ and is well emote to double it in next 12 months’ time period.”

To address this issue, EC-Council has taken leadership position by initiating Code Uncode, India’s first ever nationwide hunt for the best secure programmer. It is a nationwide competition for students, professionals, colleges and corporate. The event will bring together existing and aspiring security enthusiasts from all fields of the infosec world from the Corporate and government bodies to academic institutions. EC-Council has hosted and funded its first competition Code-Uncode in India which is free of cost for the students.

The Battle Against Cyber Attacks

The proliferation of ICT and virtualisation has brought about a revolution of a different sort – a cyber revolution – which has created a myriad of benefits and opportunities to countries, organisations and individuals, while introducing the new and unstoppable threat of cyber attacks. Bringing down entire organisations and throwing countries into cyber warfare, it is a growing inevitability, one that needs to be battled.

The flagship event was a full day summit, the ‘EC-Council Cyber Security Summit’, prior to which a leadership forum with some of the country’s top CEOs and chairmen was held. EC Council Inaugurates Vidya Jyoti Institute of Technology’s Computer Society of India (CSI) Student Chapter

EC Council educates students on the importance of Cyber Security and the numerous common threats they could fall prey to

India– 2nd February, 2013 –EC Council, one of the leading certification and training organizations in the world continues to spread the message of the importance of cyber security.

VJIT College, Hyderabad, recently launched the Computer Society of India (CSI) Student Chapter and invited Safeerur Rehman, Technical Director, EC Council India to inaugurate it.

Present from the College Management team were, Prof. Ravi Mathey, Head of the department, CSE, Dr.P.Padmaja, Principal, VJIT and Dr.P. Venugopal Reddy, Director, VJIT.

Making it an engaging session for the faculty and students, Safeerur spoke to the students about the urgent need for cyber-security in India and the common threats that individuals fall prey to due to lack of knowledge. The session was an interactive one that ended with a live hacking session thoroughly enjoyed by the attendees from VJIT.

The above is in line EC Council’s recently launched  Information Security Awareness Program with an aim to educate young students and budding professionals about the hazards in cyber security and the menace of cyber threats. EC Council Successfully Continues its Information Security Awareness Program

Launched a week back with an aim to educate budding security professionals, EC Council continues to partner with education institutions in Hyderabad and Chennai

India– 30th January, 2013 – EC Council, one of the leading certification and training organizations in the world continues its Information Security Awareness Program in India.

This initiative by EC Council was launched keeping in mind the need of the market and is well timed as Frost & Sullivan reported that nearly 80 percent of Indian business enterprises have reported data theft through online hacking. According to a recent Norton by Symantec report, of the total 137 million Internet users in India, 42 million have fallen prey to the cyber fraud in one way or the other. The financial loss per cyber-crime victim is around Rs 10,000 for 2012.

Keeping all of the above in mind, with an aim to educate young students and budding professionals about the hazards in cyber security and the menace of cyber threats, EC Council has launched this ongoing initiative, partnering with numerous colleges, universities and institutions across cities in the country.

Continuing to partner with educational institutions that started with Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology, this week, EC Council has partnered with Padmasri Dr. B.V.Raju Institute of Technology, Geethanjali College of Engineering and Technology and Rajalakshmi College, to talk about the perils of cyber threats with students of the CSE and IT Department and the faculty of the College.

With an aim to educate budding security professionals, EC Council partners with education institutions across India, starting with Hyderabad
