EC-Council sponsored the seventh annual Forum International de la Cybersecurite (FIC), Europe’s largest information security event, bringing together security experts from around the world, drawing a crowd of over 4,000 people from more than 70 countries.
Originally launched by the French National Gendarmerie, the event was attended by several high-level ministers including the French Interior Minister, M. Bernard Cazeneuve; the German Interior Minister, M. Thomas de Maiziere; the Digital Secretary of State, Ms. Axelle Lemaire; and the Defense Secretary of State, M. Jean-Marc Todeschini.
The 2015 edition also marked the third consecutive year that EC-Council, world-leader in information security training and certification, sponsored the FIC. EC-Council sponsored the FIC hacking challenges to test attendees’ knowledge and gave away free Computer Hacking Forensic Investigator (CHFI) training to the winners. The challenges, awarded by EC-Council and its French partners and presented by ACISSI and EPITA were an excellent opportunity for information security professionals to catch the eye of one of the many information security companies in attendance.
The award ceremony recognizing the challenge winners was conducted by Jean-Marc Todeschini, Defense Secretary of State and Claire Kemp, IT-Gnosis SARL CEO and European representative of EC-Council. The winners, Fabien Perigaud and Yorick Lesecque were excited to win the challenge and the free training from EC-Council. Perigaud, a reverse engineering expert working at Airbus Defence & Space, said “The challenges were particularly numerous and varied, which was great because we could easily try another challenge if one was blocking, and it allowed to put into practice a wide range of knowledge.” Lesecque, a junior pentester also at Airbus Defence & Space, said of the CHFI training he won, “I don’t know much things about forensic so that will be a good opportunity for me to learn and have a certification.”
