Abstract: Digital forensics is the process of discovering and analyzing digital evidence related to cyber crime to uncover information that can be presented in a court of law. However, the evolution of the technology landscape has made digital forensics more challenging than ever because data processing and storage are now possible across different environments. Along with these emerging technologies, which have transformed the previously existing border for data security, accompanying cyber crimes have also evolved to exploit unidentified vulnerabilities in these modern technologies. With the help of novel technologies, digital forensics must grow now to combat these new challenges. The future of forensics will see the incorporation of new methods for improving security and gaining the ability to scale investigations. The current webinar explains how technological evolution has changed the forensic landscape and how computer forensics can utilize similar novel technologies to advance its capabilities.

Key takeaways:

  • the impact of emerging technologies and trends on computer forensics
  • forensic challenges associated with IT operation and storage environments
  • the types of technologies that could be adopted by digital forensics
  • the role of artificial intelligence (AI) and machine learning (ML) in scaling forensics capabilitie
