The CSCU Foundation Program which was taken forward to schools to help educate end users about the threats they face online and how to use technology safely has received a positive response from the schools and parents.
With the motto of ‘Cyber Safe Kids for a Cyber Safe World’, the CSCU Foundation Program was created after analyzing the threats children and young computer users face when as they are exposed to all the sides of the cyber-space without any specific knowledge in cyber safety and cyber hygiene.
EC-Council’s Certified Secure Computer User (CSCU) Foundation program is a simplified cyber- security awareness course created to teach students and other end-users how to protect themselves from cyber threats. This course was designed with a special focus on some of today’s most vulnerable computer users: young people and non-technical end users.
Indian Schools which took up the CSCU Foundation course have already started teaching the course actively in their daily curriculum. Mrs. Rachana Pant of Ramjas School, Delhi shared with us her experience and mentioned how the CSCU course is doing a human service in the field of net security and cyber security as she understands cyber-crime and cyber- bullying are very big issues in today’s time and hence to teach our kids about cyber hygiene and cyber etiquettes is very important, which is exactly what CSCU is teaching. While Mrs. Sangeeta Saxena, Principal of Chiranjeev Bharati School said, ‘We are living in the cyber-world and hence we cannot do without cyber-security. The CSCU Foundation Course provides us the education to be a cyber-safe citizen and is the best guide to be safe on all devices which connects us with the cyber-world. Students are extremely excited, happy and motivated by this course.’
The students have displayed an extremely encouraging feedback for the course saying that they now feel more cyber-safe, they now understand what is wrong, the various hazards that come along with the usage of cyber-space, how can they be fooled in the cyber-space etc. all in all there is information security awareness being provided to understand a clearer picture of what are the pros and cons of the cyber-world to those most vulnerable by its usage.
Schools that have taken up the CSCU Foundation Course have been declared as cyber-safe schools in India. They have actively made the CSCU Foundation course a compulsory subject to be taught to all students and this step marks one of the first of many that EC-Council is taking to create more and more awareness about Information Security by imparting the right knowledge, providing the right subjects and opening the domain of Information Security to students at school level. Information Security education will not only empower the students but also the teachers and parents in creating a protected cyber-space.
Rakesh Malviya, Director of Institute of Intellectual Property, EC-Council’s Accredited Training Center has been the torch-bearer for portraying the message of ‘Cyber Safe Kids for a Cyber Safe World’ effectively throughout schools in Delhi. Along with his team, he has reached out to the students and provided them with the appropriate and most relevant subject to understand the cyber-space in much detail. With his relentless work, EC-Council shall soon be spreading across many schools to establish them as cyber-safe schools.
