5,000 Bahrainis To Receive Free Cybersecurity Training After EC-Council, NGN Join Forces

Summary:  EC-Council (ECC) has partnered with NGN International to deliver free training on an “Introduction to Cybersecurity” via ECC’s CodeRed platform to over 5,000 jobseekers in Bahrain, paving the path for a formidable cybersecurity workforce actively protecting organizations in the region.

Bahrain (November 09, 2020) – With the world moving online amid the COVID-19 pandemic, remote working makes cyberspace more vulnerable than before. Cybercriminals are making no exceptions, leaving businesses in the Middle East on the hunt for skilled professionals who can defend their IT infrastructure from cyber attackers, even post-pandemic. In its latest venture to fill this growing skill gap, EC-Council has collaborated with NGN and the Ministry of Labor in Bahrain to impart its top cybersecurity training on an “Introduction to Cybersecurity” via EC-Council’s CodeRed platform to over 5,000 jobseekers in Bahrain at no cost.

“The industry is in urgent need of skilled cybersecurity professionals that can help organizations and government institutions in the Middle East build a strong cyber defense,” says Jay Bavisi, CEO of EC-Council Group. “This initiative is a natural alignment and a good opportunity for cyber enthusiasts in Bahrain to upskill with our latest cybersecurity skills and methodologies.”

For many years, rampantly growing cyberattacks have made headlines the world over. Kaspersky’s recent report showed that 90% of bank fraud in Bahrain was carried out via phones, with 23% of people in Bahrain facing banking fraud at least once in the last six months. Regrettably, this activity is not new, with the frequency of such attacks increasing. Recent figures also show that the cybersecurity industry in the Middle East is in need of skilled cybersecurity professionals.

We are proud of our initiative to provide free training for 5,000 Bahrainis. This initiative comes within the framework of the NGN Training Center’s keenness to develop its social responsibility towards the Bahraini community, as well as affirming the significance of information security as a basic pillar of digital transformation. Through this initiative, we will focus on promoting awareness of the importance of cybersecurity for institutions, companies, and individuals, coinciding with the activation of the National Center for Cybersecurity in the Kingdom of Bahrain. – Yaqoob AlAwadhi, CEO of NGN International
