Considering the dependence of cloud services by enterprises today, what is the relevance of cloud security training?

We all know that in recent years, the cloud adoption rate keeps increasing and they grew even faster during and after the COVID pandemic. Well, more organizations try to move their data and infrastructure to the cloud. They also need to face the challenges of how to secure them. This is why cloud security is so important currently, and

Cloud Security certification training is very relevant and necessary to give security professionals both strong theoretical and practical skills to handle the new challenges.

What makes EC-Council’s Certified Cloud Security Engineer (C|CSE) unique?

One very unique point that I would like to highlight is how the Certified Cloud Security Engineer (C|CSE) is different from many other cloud security certification courses in that other programs mainly focus on the specific cloud platform. The Certified Cloud Security Engineer (C|CSE) offers a mix of vendor-neutral and vendor-specific cloud security concepts.

BXS Quote
The vendor-specific material focuses on giving expertise in specific platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP, while at the same time, the vendor-neutral concept provides the principles and best practices that enable us learners to master different technologies.

What program modules do you find most important and believe would help bridge the cloud security skills gap prevalent in the cybersecurity market today?

I would like to highlight two modules in this course that address the skill set, which are the modules of data security in the cloud as well as the platform and infrastructure security in the cloud. When an organization tries to migrate to the cloud, there’s a need to bridge the skill set on managing cloud security. For example, now that

Data is no longer fully under their own control, there’s a shared responsibility to secure the data and the storage

These modules start with introducing the new challenges of managing the cloud security in comparison to managing the on-premise security. The Certified Cloud Security Engineer (C|CSE) program provides comprehensive details of the technologies and approaches to address the secret concerns across all the 3 cloud platforms.

How useful and relevant are the 50+ hands-on labs in enabling cybersecurity professionals to handle various industry-level cloud security challenges?

BXS Quote

The hands-on labs offer comprehensive practical learning of the security tools and technologies across the three top cloud providers: AWS, Azure, and GCP. All the labs come with scenarios that are very relevant to the real world and industry security challenges.

The lab activity provides step-by-step guidance on how to leverage cloud security tools to solve the problem. Now, this solution provided in the Certified Cloud Security Engineer (C|CSE) program is very relevant and provides up-to-date knowledge and skill sets for us to handle the industry-level cloud security challenges.

Did the course help you gain a holistic perceptive on AWS, Azure, and GCP security practices and vendor-neutral concepts?

I would like to use the module on cloud platforms and infrastructure security as an example. From a vendor-neutral point of view, we learned the risk and strengths associated with the cloud infrastructure. In terms of the solution and implementation, we also have a holistic view of similar solutions from different platforms. For example, in order to secure the cloud network, we have exposure to AWS security groups, the Azure NSG–the network security groups and also the VPC firewall from GCP. So

with this good mix, we have the chance to gain a holistic perspective on all the top three platforms through this cloud security certification.

How current and relevant are the various tools and techniques taught in the program, and are they readily applicable to the workplace?

In my personal opinion, all the tools covered in the hands-on labs are very current and relevant to the workplace. For example, in the module on security operation in the cloud, we have the opportunity to use Amazon Inspector to perform vulnerability assessments. We also use the AWS Cloud trail to view the event history as well as the AWS CloudWatch to monitor the resources performances.

BXS Quote
All these techniques are necessary tools that should be implemented in our workplace if we have just migrated to the cloud.

Do you find this program delivering value on investment for cloud security learnings covered on AWS, Azure, & GCP, along with vendor-neutral concepts?

Yes, of course. Especially, I would like to say that

I like the way the Certified Cloud Security Engineer (C|CSE) is designed and structured for each individual module of this cloud security certification course.

It starts with learning objectives, then introduces the cloud security concept from a vendor-neutral perspective. Then the subsequent learning objective will zoom into the specific cloud platform to further illustrate the practical approaches.

This will give all the learners a solid overview to bring everyone’s understanding to the same level, then specialize the understanding into various platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP.

What kind of recognition did you get after becoming C|CSE?

As a lecturer, my institution, EM Polytechnic, is the first EC-Council academia partner in Singapore. So,

I after I became Certified Cloud Security Engineer (C|CSE) certified, I became a subject master in the domain of cloud security.

I’m able to provide more guidance and share more experiences with my students. Many of my students are interested in pursuing not only the C|CSE but also some other courses offered by EC Council, such as the Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH) and the Certified SoC Analyst (C|SA).
