Adi Nugroho – LPT (Master) certification offers more credibility and administers a verification mechanism to ensure that the right candidate is attempting the exam, eliminating any possibilities of false identification

For me the LPT (Master) was quite challenging and it definitely depicted a real-world scenario. The fact that it gives you enough space between each level to evaluate and recuperate was extremely life-like, as a penetration tester is not expected to compromise systems over night, instead a plan is created and followed through over the span of a few weeks.

I enjoyed all the challenges as they were very realistic and I highly recommend having prior experience before attempting these challenges. Some of the challenges required the use of many advanced techniques, while others required a calmer approach. Although I did get through the LPT (Master) test, I was unable to solve all the challenges as a limited amount of information is provided. However, this would be an advantage to a person pursuing a career in penetration testing as it ensures that you gather sufficient amount of information before attempting to compromise the machine.

The fact that the test is fully proctored gives the certification so much more credibility and administers a verification mechanism to ensure that the right candidate is attempting the exam, eliminating any possibilities of false identification. Also, as your screen is shared with the proctor at all times, they are able to ensure that you are not acquiring any help that is not permitted during the test.

Overall, the LPT (Master) test helped me understand that a strategic plan before compromising is important as it helps you categorize the targets, from the easiest to the hardest, teaching you the importance of prioritizing in real-life.

Another part of the test that I found helpful in a real-life scenario was that it concentrated on the value of report writing, which ensured that you had sufficient proof of what you had done and it helped the organization understand the impact of your test.
