EC-Council and SLCERT Sign Landmark MOU to Elevate Sri Lanka’s Cybersecurity Capabilities 

Colombo, Sri Lanka, December 23, 2024: EC-Council, a global leader in cybersecurity education and the creator of the renowned Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) credential, has announced a strategic partnership with the Sri Lanka Computer Emergency Response Team (SLCERT). This collaboration aligns with Sri Lanka’s National Cybersecurity Strategy for 2024–2027 and marks a pivotal step in enhancing the country’s cybersecurity infrastructure amid a growing cyber threat landscape.

The partnership aims to address the critical skills gap in Sri Lanka’s cybersecurity workforce by leveraging EC-Council’s internationally recognized certifications and training programs. These programs will equip professionals with the expertise needed to combat evolving cyber threats and protect the nation’s digital assets.

Bridging the Skills Gap with World-Class Cybersecurity Training

Under this collaboration, EC-Council’s certifications will be introduced in Sri Lanka, offering a comprehensive range of programs from Certified Cybersecurity Technician (CCT) and Certified Network Defender (CND) to Certified Ethical Hacker (CEH) and Certified Chief Information Security Officer (C|CISO). These courses will be customized to meet the diverse needs of individuals, businesses, and government entities, ensuring that cybersecurity professionals at all levels are equipped with the skills required to safeguard Sri Lanka’s digital future.

The MOU was signed by Jay Bavisi, Group President of EC-Council, and Kanishka Karunasena, CEO of SLCERT. The partnership was driven by Srikanth Akkula, EC-Council’s Country Manager for SAARC, along with key representatives from SLCERT, Thilina Disasanayake , Project Manager, Capacity Building and Nirosha Ananda, Chief Information Security Officer who laid the foundation for initiatives that will develop a skilled and resilient cybersecurity workforce in Sri Lanka.

Driving Cybersecurity Awareness and Innovation

As part of the collaboration, EC-Council and SLCERT will work together to provide Comprehensive training programs aimed at upskilling professionals at all levels and run nationwide awareness campaigns to promote best practices in cybersecurity. Establishment of dedicated training centers to make high-quality education accessible across Sri Lanka is also being explored.
