EC-Council Launches CyberGirls 100 Program to Empower Women in Cybersecurity and Bridge the Gender Gap

A collaborative effort by EC-Council, Wissen, and DICT Philippines paves the way for a more inclusive and secure digital future

Philippines, 9 June 2023: EC-Council, the inventor of Certified Ethical Hacker (C|EH) and global leader in cybersecurity education and training, announced the launch of its groundbreaking CyberGirls 100 program. The initiative was unveiled on June 9, 2023, at the ASEAN Girls in ICT Day, a prestigious event hosted by The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Philippines. EC-Council allocated USD 30,000 for this initiative, demonstrating its commitment to empowering and supporting young women in pursuing rewarding careers in the dynamic field of cybersecurity.

The CyberGirls 100 program aims to support the vision of the Digital Innovation for Women Advancement (DIWA) of the DICT and seeks to bridge the gender gap in cybersecurity by equipping young women aged 12 to 24 with essential resources, comprehensive training, and valuable mentorship opportunities. As the demand for cybersecurity professionals continues to surge, it becomes increasingly vital to encourage more women to enter the industry and contribute their unique perspectives and skills.

“Diversity is the key to innovation, and it is crucial to have more women in the cybersecurity field,” said Sean Lim, Senior Vice President at EC-Council. “Through the CyberGirls 100 program, we aim to provide young women with opportunities to explore and excel in cybersecurity, paving the way for a more inclusive and resilient future, in line with the diversity, equity, inclusion, and belonging (DEIB) global initiative of EC-Council.”

The program offers a comprehensive curriculum designed to empower participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to succeed in cybersecurity. It includes three EC-Council Essentials courses: Network Defense Essentials, Ethical Hacking Essentials, and Digital Forensics Essentials. These courses lay a solid foundation in core cybersecurity concepts and equip participants with practical skills to thrive in the industry.

Attorney Jocelle Batapa-Sigue, Undersecretary at DICT Philippines, expressed enthusiasm for supporting the CyberGirls 100 program. “At DICT Philippines, we are excited to empower young women to consider rewarding careers in cybersecurity,” she said. “By offering the necessary resources and unwavering support, we aim to cultivate a strong and diverse talent pool that will contribute to the growth and success of the cybersecurity industry in ASEAN countries.”

EC-Council’s commitment to fostering gender diversity and addressing the global cybersecurity skills gap is further exemplified by its sponsorship of the CyberGirls 100 program. This initiative builds upon the success of the Certified Cybersecurity Technician (C|CT) scholarship program, which aims to create a globally cyber-literate workforce. The CyberGirls 100 program underscores EC-Council’s dedication to equipping aspiring professionals with the expertise needed to effectively combat cyberthreats and contribute to the ever-evolving cybersecurity landscape.
