The Philippines, 13 June 2022– Wissen, the exclusive distributor of EC-Council, achieves a milestone in sponsoring 40 Philippine Army Cyber Battalion recruits with EC-Council’s Certified Cybersecurity Technician (C|CT) certification—a baseline cybersecurity training for beginners. This sponsorship program was conducted on 9 July 2022 to equip the emerging cybersecurity workforce with critical entry-level cybersecurity skills to protect national security against rising cyberattacks.
The role of the military in adopting a strong cyber defense strategy is getting critical to prevent damaging repercussions of cyberattacks on the national front. With the rise of cyber warfare creating havoc on military networks and government infrastructure, the need to build a trained cybersecurity workforce is intensifying. Trained cybersecurity experts have the expertise to apply technical and critical thinking skill sets in enhancing military cyber operations. EC-Council and Wissen’s contribution to training the Philippine Army Battalion is an unprecedented step in building a strong workforce capable of protecting the nation against cyberthreats.
Commenting on the sponsorship, Col. Joey T. Fontiveros, SC (GSC) PA, Commanding Officer, Cyber Battalion, ASR, PA, said, “We are very thankful for this learning opportunity and untiring support to Cyber Bn, ASR, PA. EC-Council and Wissen’s benevolence will significantly improve our training readiness and overall cybersecurity posture!”
The C|CT program has been designed to address the growing demand for a skilled cybersecurity workforce. It provides aspirants with multi-disciplinary learnings in crucial cybersecurity domains such as network defense, ethical hacking, digital forensics, and security operations. C|CT trains candidates through 85 hands-on labs and assesses their caliber through capture-the-flag (CTF) style critical thinking challenges. Unlike other certifications that include simulations, C|CT gives candidates exposure to a live range experience.
Philippine Army Cyber Battalion’s partnership with Wissen is expected to raise cybersecurity awareness among its personnel and empower them with a robust technical foundation on various cybersecurity domains and hands-on skill development to tackle evolving cyberthreats.
