EC-Council Announces the Launch of a New Cloud Security Certification

EC-Council launches a first-of-its-kind Certified Cloud Security Engineer (C|CSE) certificate program that delivers a robust blend of both vendor-neutral and vendor-specific cloud security concepts.

Albuquerque, New Mexico, January 18, 2022: EC-Council, an ANSI 17024 accredited, globally recognized certification body, launches the Certified Cloud Security Engineer (C|CSE) program in response to rising cloud security concerns and the concurrent talent drought in the industry. The course framework is designed and developed by industry practitioners in collaboration with subject matter experts and is mapped to the real-time job responsibilities of cloud security professionals.

With cloud infrastructure fueling business transformation, the threat landscape has simultaneously expanded for enterprises. As more and more organizations migrate to the cloud, security concerns are reaching an all-time high. According to Fugue, around 36% of organizations have experienced a significant cloud security data breach in the past 12 months. Exacerbating this industry-wide shift is the already existing skills gap in cloud security. As reported by ESG, nearly 4 out of 10 respondents (39%) stated that cloud computing security faces the most critical skills shortage. Underscoring this widely documented need for cloud security professionals, EC-Council is introducing the C|CSE specialization.

Of the certification program, Jay Bavisi, President and CEO of EC-Council Group, says, “We are excited to offer aspirants a unique cloud security program that teaches both vendor-neutral and vendor-specific solutions. Cloud infrastructure threats and misconfigurations are critical concerns, and security measures must provide robust protection. There are few comprehensive certifications that prepare professionals to handle risks for public cloud, multi-cloud, and hybrid cloud environments. Candidates gain hands-on experience and benefit from extensive modules in a structured and methodological learning environment. I believe C|CSE will contribute substantially to helping enterprises close the alarming cloud security talent gap by upskilling their internal teams.”

The C|CSE curriculum is aligned with industry standards and is designed to help both companies and individuals proactively address current industry challenges and equip applicants with practical skills that will prepare them for employment. By upskilling their existing talent pool on cloud technologies, enterprises can establish an in-house team of cloud security professionals, saving time and resources compared to hiring and training new employees. It will also assist them in designing and implementing cloud-based business continuity and disaster recovery plans. Through the course, candidates can expect to receive comprehensive training in cloud security implementation and administration.

C|CSE helps candidates enhance their fundamentals and equips them with the skills needed to manage specific cloud platforms by combining vendor-neutral and vendor-specific principles. It provides in-depth training and demonstrates how to configure popular public cloud platforms such as AWS, Azure, and GCP using security practices, tools, and methodologies. In addition, it includes more than 50 challenging labs that allow candidates to practice in simulated environments and better understand the real-world challenges that cloud security engineers encounter.

A specialized module on legal regulations, compliance, and regulatory requirements pertaining to the AWS, Azure, and GCP cloud platforms is included in the program. Students will learn how to conduct cloud computing security audits and penetration tests to assist enterprises in adhering to the standards, rules, procedures, and legislation that govern cloud systems. Platform and Infrastructure Security, Application Security, Data Security, Incident Response and Forensics Investigation, Governance, Risk Management and Compliance, and Legal Issues in the Cloud are among the other modules covered in the certification.

The 5-day program is available in three modes of delivery: instructor-led training, synchronous online learning, and asynchronous online learning.
